HOW TO GET READY FOR SKATING
- Do you feel you are in good basic physical condition? Are you able to get up and down from the ground and balance enough to walk on the ice?
- Do only what your skill level allows - don’t bite off too much until you are ready!
- Dress for winter: warm socks, mittens, hats, jacket, wind breaker, warm skates, helmet.
- Stay away from thinner ice areas: under bridge, near open water, or moving current.
- Entry points for skating on Mascoma Lake are Lakeside Park or private access points as appropriate.
- Take an Ice Safety Course - check in with the local fire departments.
- Have an Emergency Plan in case of falls or injury (cell phone, phone numbers.)
